Tips for a Stress-Free Flight Experience

When in doubt, arrive early.

The last thing you want is to be running to catch your plane. Based on your airport and flight times, we can help you by making suggestions on necessary airport arrival times. And don’t underestimate the time you’ll need for connecting flights! With many large airports, you’ll need to consider the time it takes to navigate to your gate.

Know the carry-on restrictions.

Save time when going through security by keeping in mind these important requirements for carry-ons:

  • Ensure all of your liquids or gels are in 3 ounces or smaller containers (more than 3oz permitted in checked baggage).

  • Place those containers in a 1 quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag.

  • Place 1 bag only per traveler in the security bin for screening.

Also, be sure to check the maximum carry-on luggage sizes – they vary based on the specific airline!

Track your flight.

While no one wants to experience cancellations or delays, with weather conditions and unpredictable mechanical issues, it’s always a good idea to stay-up-to-date. Along with airline apps, we can also recommend other apps and alerts to help you stay informed about your flight schedule.

Arrive Early.

We don’t live in a Perfect world, and airports are far from perfect with 100’s even 1000’s of people doing exactly what you would like to do, catch a Flight. So don’t rely on anyone for booking tickets, check immediately that everything is correct, i.e. dates, the spelling of names etc. We recommend at least, being 3 hours earlier to avoid any stressful moments. Flights and Vacations are supposed to be fun and exciting!

If catching a taxi or friends drive you to the airport, always expect the unexpected in traffic, leave early.

Layers or layers.

Since you don’t know how warm or cold it will be on the plane, be sure to wear layers so you can effortlessly adjust to changing temperatures. A scarf can double as a blanket or even a pillow. Also, be sure to wear comfortable shoes that are easy to remove at security. Dress for comfort, not a fashion expo, as you more than likely be in your seat for many hours! If you can afford it, travel in Business Class for long flights, it’s so good!

Book your Preferred Seat

With modern day technology, most airlines allow you to check-in online, which can save you time at the Airport. Generally, online bookings start around 24 hours before the departure date and times, check your ticket for this information. Whilst your there, see if they allow you to book your Seat, this can be so much better to choose a seat that you prefer, then just given any random seat at for your flight.

Getting Hungry

Don’t go buying loads of goodies to eat and drink on the plane, as most will check your carry on luggage and count it as contraband and make you eat it or drink it before you board your flight. It is sad but does happen before boarding on occasions. This is best to check with your preferred airline or your friendly Travel Agent about what you can and can’t take on board your flight.

Each Airline has different regulations for carrying on food and drinks items, some do allow, and some strictly won’t allow this!

On a low-cost carrier or low-cost airline (also known as no-frills, discount or budget carrier or airline, or LCC) which is an airline without most of the traditional services provided in the fare. This results in lower fares and fewer comforts. They will allow you to book any foods you would like to have whilst on your flight. This is a personal preference, so check it out when you do an online check-in.

Some LCC airlines that allow you to prebook your food and preferred seat requirements are –  Cebu Pacific and Air Asia
